Denise Thew, Ph.D.
Board Member
Dr. Denise Thew is currently a third year Preventive Cardiology post- doctoral fellow with the Community and Preventive Medicine and a psychotherapist with the Deaf Wellness Center, both located at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She received her BA in Psychology with honors from the College of St. Mary in Omaha, NE; MA in Counseling, PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Dakota and a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation from University of Rochester Medical Center. She is also a certified peer mediator. Thew is currently the chairperson of the American Psychological Association (APA) Special Interest Section on Deafness (SISD). She has received several national honors for her leadership, graduate work and participation on several committees, providing professional presentations nationally and internationally.
Originally from Vancouver BC, Canada, Dr. Thew had previous careers in the business and financial industries. An adventure-seeker since birth, Thew has traveled to hundreds of locations around North America, enjoying the great outdoors.
