W. Scot Atkins,  Ed.D has over 20 years of experience in human resources, organizational development and training. Atkins has done organizational development work in other countries, including an in-depth project in Kiev, Ukraine, and is now working on several research initiatives regarding Deaf Entrepreneurship. He is currently a faculty member at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the NTID Business Studies department.

Atkins was previously the director of organizational development and HR for Interpretek, an interpreting agency serving upstate New York, Omaha and Central Florida. For ten years prior to working for Interpretek, Atkins was senior vice president of human resources for Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD.) 

Atkins earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and received his doctorate degree in Organizational Development from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. His dissertation topic was, “Exploring the Lived Experiences of Deaf Entrepreneurs/Business Owners.” Atkins joined a Discovering Deaf Worlds Journey to Cambodia and Thailand with his wife Sally in August of 2011. He enjoys traveling, reading, and photography.
