Melissa Malzkuhn is a storyteller, digital strategist, and creative director fascinated by languages, word play, and interactive technologies. She directs the development of research-based products, including award winning bilingual storybook apps designed for early language acquisition for Deaf children. As Creative Director of Motion Light Lab, Melissa Malzkuhn leads a variety of projects intersecting creative literature and digital technology to create new learning experiences. 
Melissa Malzkuhn received her MFA in Visual Narrative from the School of Visual Arts, and her MA in Deaf Studies from Gallaudet University. Her thesis was on the advocacy and community organizing of deaf youth in America, which led to the establishment of a national organization in 2008, Deaf Youth USA (DYUSA), serving youth between the ages of 18-30. Melissa served on the board of the World Federation of the Deaf Youth Section from 2007 – 2011 (WFDYS). An advocate of the human rights of deaf youth, Melissa has helped organize national and international camps, given presentations and workshops on differing generations, deaf culture and history, global movement of deaf youth. 
Melissa is founder of Ink & Salt, a creative productions company, and one of the lead developers of The ASL App, an app that teaches conversational ASL.
